Comprehensive Environmental Health Impact Assessment of Risk Factors

The National Public Health Surveillance Laboratory Health Risk Factors Assessment Department performs a comprehensive environmental health impact assessment of physical and chemical risk factors, odors, and other environmental hazards.

Environmental Health Impact Assessment is Conducted in the Following Cases:

  • Preparation of strategic environmental assessment documents

  • Preparation of environmental impact assessment documents

  • Preparation of health impact assessment documents

  • Evaluation of proposed or existing sanitary protection zones

  • Preparation of Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) permits

  • Preparation of spatial planning documents and construction projects

  • Other cases where an environmental health impact assessment is required, including assessments of physical (noise, infrasound, low-frequency noise, vibration, electromagnetic fields, climate, lighting) and chemical risk factors, odors, and other hazards

National Public Health Surveillance Laboratory performing environmental health impact assessment of risk factors using modern methods of analysis and various techniques of pollution dispersion modeling: ADMS-Urban (air pollution and odor) program, IMMI (noise) program and the geographic information system (ArcGIS 10.0).

To ensure public health protection, the environmental health impact assessment identifies, describes, and evaluates current and potential impacts on public health and the environment, proposing appropriate mitigation solutions.

The National Public Health Surveillance Laboratory is authorized to conduct public health impact assessments in accordance with a license issued by the State Health Care Accreditation Agency under the Ministry of Health (License No. 42, issued on 05/17/2004, revised on 03/25/2010).
